Verify COD orders With ConvertWay's SMS Automation
COD verification, or Cash-on-delivery verification, is a crucial step in e-commerce and retail operations. It involves confirming the authenticity of an order and the payment method when goods are delivered to the customer.
Fraud Prevention: It ensures that the person receiving the goods is the same as the person who placed the order, reducing the risk of identity theft or fraudulent purchases.
Payment Assurance: It guarantees that the customer pays for the order upon delivery and minimizes the risk of non-payment.
Enhanced Trust: Customers feel more confident ordering products when they know they can inspect them before making payment. This trust can lead to repeat business and positive word-of-mouth referrals.
Reduced Return Rates: With COD verification, customers have the opportunity to inspect the product's quality and condition before paying. This can reduce the likelihood of returns due to damaged or unsatisfactory items.
With our COD Confirmation Flow, you can confirm Cash On Delivery orders via SMS in just a few simple steps. After the order is confirmed we also tag it as confirmed/cancelled in your Shopify orders dashboard.
To enable Automation go to Flows > SMS > COD Verification
The flow is triggered when a COD order is placed at a time delay set by you.
Define the timeline until which the customer can confirm or cancel the order after the first follow-up message under the Accept reply within field.
You can also automatically update your order status when the customer confirms or cancels the order by enabling Update order status.
Now you can simply edit the template for your first follow-up.
After setting the timeline move on and enable the first follow-up. You’ll see that we already have a pre-set message template in the Browse field.
In the case of SMS flow, we send a confirmation link where the user can confirm or cancel the order.
As per the button selected by the customer, a response is sent automatically. You can preview this in the Response Text field.
If the customer confirms their order, they are then given a chance to update their address in case they made a mistake, if the customer does not reply to this address change message we simply use the address given by them. If they don't reply to the first COD confirmation message we have another order confirmation follow-up text prepared to go to save you from COD fraud! fraud!
Set the time after which the customer receives the second follow-up. You can select this period in the Delay field.
After the verification message is sent to the customer three cases arise:
When an order is confirmed the customer is sent an Update Address notification.
Enable the Update Address follow-up to allow your customers to change their address to prevent RTOs or COD frauds.
You can review the preset template for address changes, along with the response sent to customers based on whether or not they update their address.
If a customer does not reply to the address change message then we assume the address given by them is correct.
In this case, a notification informing the customer that the order has been canceled is sent, and the order status is automatically updated to canceled in your Shopify dashboard.
Fill up all other required fields for the second follow-up same as the first follow-up
Now follow all the steps for the second follow-up exactly like you did for the first follow-up.
If the customer now confirms the order they will be sent the update address follow-up same as in the first follow-up.
Once the customer has submitted a response a tag is added add to the Shopify Orders dashboard.
To check the performance of your COD verification messages go to: Flows > COD Verfication > Analytics
The COD Analytics displays the following information:
